Detailed Itinerary

Days 1-2: Home - Madrid

A dream comes true as your wide-bodied jet thunders off the airstrip, Europe-bound! Watch the sun rise up to meet your airplane, after a short night. Spain glides by beneath your airplane, in shades of sienna, as you head towards Madrid's Barajas Airport.
Get settled in your madrileño hotel and explore your surroundings. Stroll in the Plaza Mayor, the heart of the Old City. For lunch, why not duck into a sidewalk mesón for a sopa de pescado or some calamares?

Day 3: Madrid City Sightseeing, Visit to the Royal Palace, Travel to Salamanca

Madrid City Sightseeing
On a tour of the city, you will be introduced to the sights and the city grand squares: Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Plaza de España with the Cervantes Monument, Gran Vía, Calle Alcalá, Plaza de Colón, and Plaza de Cibeles with its fountains.
A half-day local guide, well-educated and specially-trained on the history and culture of Madrid and its surroundings, will accompany your group.

Visit to the Prado Museum
View world-famous paintings by El Greco, Goya, and Velázquez, and much. much more, at the magnificent Museo del Prado.

Visit to the Royal Palace
Step into a world of opulence and history with a guided tour of Madrid's stunning Royal Palace. Known as Palacio Real, this magnificent edifice is not just a monument, but a vibrant symbol of the city's rich heritage. As the official residence of the Spanish Royal Family, the palace boasts some of the finest collections of historic artwork, armory, and royal artifacts in the world. Day 4-8: Salamanca

Dive into an immersive language learning experience! Improve your Spanish skills with our Intensive Spanish Course, tailored with 4 full days of engaging lessons per week. But the learning doesn't stop in the classroom - explore the historic city of Salamanca, practice your Spanish in authentic situations, and soak in the rich culture and vibrancy of this student-friendly city. Salamanca Guided Walking Tour
Immerse yourself in the stunning beauty and vibrant history of Salamanca with a self-guided walking tour. Start your journey with a leisurely stroll around the famous University of Salamanca, one of the oldest universities in Europe. Marvel at the intricate carvings of the façade, a masterpiece of the Plateresque style. Next, make your way to the Casa de las Conchas, a building adorned with more than 300 shell-shaped carvings. From there, visit the two cathedrals of Salamanca - the Old Cathedral, a Romanesque gem, and the New Cathedral, a splendid example of Gothic architecture. Finally, end your tour at the bustling Plaza Mayor, often hailed as one of the most beautiful squares in Spain. Don't forget to look for the frog on the skull, a symbol of good luck, at the university, and enjoy the vibrant life of this UNESCO World Heritage city at your own pace. Unamuno Museum
Visit the 18th-century house where the writer Miguel de Unamuno resided while Dean of the University of Salamanca. Now the Casa-Museum Unamuno, the house is filled with personal objects, furniture and mementoes, including the author's library.

Day 9-11: Salamanca

Your student-led days allow you to unleash your spirit of discovery with days designed by you, for you! After enjoying a delicious breakfast, Salamanca is yours to explore. Wander through the winding streets, admire the stunning architecture, or relax in one of the city's verdant parks. You could visit the historic University of Salamanca, one of the oldest in Europe, or browse the local boutiques for a unique souvenir. From exploring the city's historical landmarks to simply soaking up the vibrant atmosphere in a local café, the possibilities are endless. Don't forget to sample some local tapas - this is your chance to experience Salamanca your way!

Day 12-15: Salamanca

Language Classes
Step outside the traditional classroom setting and into the immersive world of language learning with our Intensive Spanish Course in Salamanca. Each week, you'll participate in four days of comprehensive lessons, thoughtfully designed to cultivate your Spanish language skills. Supported by our dedicated team of instructors, you'll be encouraged to engage in active communication, enhancing your language proficiency in a truly authentic context.

Flamenco Classes
Experience the passion and energy of Spanish culture with three Flamenco dance classes during your week in Salamanca. Organized by your language school, these classes will offer a fun and engaging way to immerse yourself in the local culture. You'll learn the basic steps and rhythms of this traditional dance form, guided by experienced instructors who'll ensure you're clapping, stamping, and twirling like a true Flamenco dancer. Whether you're a dance novice or have some experience, these classes will cater to all skill levels. It's not just about the dance, though - Flamenco is a powerful form of expression, telling a story through movement and music. By the end of your week, you'll have a deeper understanding of Spanish culture and a new dance skill to show off!
Participating students may need to purchase Flamenco shoes.

Visit to the Orchard of Calixto and Melibea public park
Walk through the public park known as Huerto de Calixto y Melibea, a romantic oasis set within the city walls which is often used for weddings. It's named after the heroes of La Celestina, a 1499 novel by Fernando de Rojas that's a jewel of early Spanish literature. It tells the tragic story of a Christian Romeo and his Jewish Juliet that has inspired Spanish writers and lovers ever since. The park, restored to recapture its medieval look, stands on the site where Calisto and Melibea are said to have met.

Day 16: Salamanca

Excursion to Segovia
Step back in time with a full-day excursion from Salamanca to the historic city of Segovia. Known for its rich architectural legacy, Segovia is home to a Roman aqueduct, a gothic cathedral, and a fairy-tale castle. Start your visit with the Aqueduct of Segovia, a Roman masterpiece of engineering that has stood for nearly 2000 years. Continue to the Segovia Cathedral, known as 'The Lady of Cathedrals', and admire its stunning gothic architecture. Finally, explore the Alcázar of Segovia, a castle straight out of a storybook, with its distinctive turrets and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. This excursion will offer a fascinating glimpse into Spain's past, and leave you with memories to last a lifetime.

Day 17-18: Salamanca

You might want to visit the beautiful Plaza Mayor, enjoy a leisurely stroll along the River Tormes, or even take a short trip to the nearby picturesque village of Alba de Tormes. You could even set out to explore the city's rich art scene, perhaps starting with the Art Nouveau and Art Deco Museum. With the day at your finger tips, you're free to immerse yourself in the rhythm of Spanish life.

Day 19-21: Salamanca

Language Classes
Experience language learning that transcends conventional boundaries with your last week of your Intensive Spanish Course in Salamanca. Over the course of these four days, you'll delve into engaging Spanish lessons, honing your language skills in an environment that encourages communication. With guidance from our skilled instructors, you'll be able to practice your Spanish in a supportive and interactive setting.

Community Projects
Salamanca is a city brimming with cultural vibrancy and a continuous stream of events and initiatives. As we approach our departure date, we'll explore the current happenings and events within the city, including any volunteer projects that could benefit from participation. Examples of this could include:

• Language exchange events hosted in local cafes and bars, where locals and foreigners meet to practice different languages with one another. It's an incredibly engaging way to practice Spanish and connect with locals, and they’re always looking for participants.

• Local initiatives aimed at preserving and enhancing the natural environment around Salamanca. This could involve tree planting, litter picking, or supporting sustainable agricultural practices.

• Potential need of volunteers that can help in organizing cultural events, art festivals, and historical exhibitions.

• Possible opportunities for work on historical preservation projects.

As our time in Salamanca comes to a close, we'll set our sights back to Madrid. As we approach Madrid, the city's vibrant energy and dynamic skyline will welcome you back, marking the next chapter of your Spanish adventure.
