As dawn breaks over Athens, the city stirs with anticipation. Golden light bathes the ancient monuments, casting long shadows over centuries of history. This is the perfect moment to begin our voyage through time with Passports Educational Travel, as we uncover the secrets of Athens.

Morning

We start with a coach tour, where we'll introduce you to the city’s most emblematic sights. First, the Hellenic Parliament, a stately neoclassical building overlooking Syntagma Square, the vibrant heart of modern Athens. Then, we’ll pass by the 1896 Olympic Stadium, a marble marvel that hosted the first modern Olympic Games.

As the morning progresses, we’ll tour the bustling Plaka district, where past and present collide in a medley of bustling markets, Byzantine churches, and neoclassical architecture.

Mid Morning

Our journey through Athens continues at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Here, you'll witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony, an experience that combines military precision with traditional Greek dress and choreography. It's a striking display of honor and tradition that's sure to be a highlight of your trip.

Afternoon

After a lunch break in one of the city's charming tavernas, we'll head to the crown jewel of Athens: the Acropolis. Perched atop a rocky hill, the Acropolis is a testament to the glory of ancient Athens, with monuments that have stood the test of time. Led by a well-educated local guide, we'll visit iconic landmarks like the Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, and the Erechtheion with its famous Caryatid columns.

Late Afternoon

At the pinnacle of the Acropolis, you'll stand before the mighty Parthenon. As the sun begins to dip low in the sky, the ancient marble seems to glow with an inner light. This iconic temple, dedicated to the goddess Athena, will leave you breathless with its majesty and its ingenious architectural design aimed to counteract optical sagging.

Evening

As twilight descends, we'll descend to the Acropolis Museum. Housing artifacts spanning from the 7th century BC to the 5th century AD, the museum offers a deep dive into Athens' ancient past. Here, you can view a collection of significant archaeological finds and peer at excavations through a glass floor, all while hoping for the day the disputed Parthenon Sculptures currently in the British Museum can return to their rightful home.

Night

As the stars appear, we’ll end our day in a local taverna. Surrounded by the murmur of conversation and the clinking of glasses, you'll have a chance to reflect on the day's adventures and look forward to what tomorrow will bring on your journey with Passports Educational Travel.
