In-Flight Essentials: What to Pack in Your Carry-On Bag

The contents of your carry-on bag can make your flight experience! While, if you’re like us, you’re hoping to get some sleep in the air - sometimes, that excitement gets the best of you. Be prepared to spend at least some hours awake in the sky, and set yourself up to enjoy them!

First, check your airline's restrictions for carry-on bags. There are size limits and liquid restrictions to keep in mind, and this is strictly enforced. Once you’ve ensured that you’ve adhered to the rules - let's get to packing.

For comfort during your flight, include a neck pillow, earplugs, and even an eye mask. Flight attendants and planes have certain rules, like when to open all of the windows, so to ensure yourself no disruption - this can certainly help! Airplanes can get cold, but a good pair of warm socks can ward off the chill. You can even bring travel-sized toiletries in a clear plastic bag for refreshing during long flights.

Electronics like your phone or tablet, along with their chargers, are must-haves. A power bank can be handy if in-seat power outlets aren't available. Don’t forget headphones, too. Sometimes, the pairing between the potential in-seat entertainment requires a different cord than your phone will, but you’ll be able to go on your airline’s website to double check prior to your trip.

Try, if possible, to always include a change of clothes. Whether there’s an unexpected delay, or you arrive at your destination hours before check in - it’s comforting to have an option. Pack something comfortable and versatile.

Bring your copies of your important documents – passport, tickets, travel insurance, accommodation details, and emergency contact numbers – just in case.

Lastly, albiet non-essential, snacks! You can buy tons of snacks at the airport and while traveling, but you can bring your own non-liquid snacks aboard, as well. I’m not sure about you, but snacks certainly help us pass the time!
