First-Hand Account: How an Educational Tour Impacted Me

Guest post by Dustin Moran*, of passports Materials Fulfillment Department:

I always have loved working at passports for the 6+ years I have been with the company, but up until I went on an overseas trip with my coworkers and the teachers we brought with us… I wasn’t sure exactly what it was I helped people experience. It wasn’t just the fun times, Guinness (but it helped!), new foreign friends and memories made that will last forever, and the bragging rights that come with traveling… it was truly the educational aspect and the awakening of something in the soul that can only be experienced by those who do travel and see the very large world we live in, that impacted me the most. I can’t thank passports enough. I’d especially like to thank Gil for making any of it even possible. I encourage everyone to get out, get enlightened, and get in touch with what traveling awakens in a person. The time is now people, we don’t live forever, and regret is a reality that comes with the “what I should have done while I had the chance” aspect of the short time we have in this life. I truly acquired a new respect for the line of work we are in. Travel & Be Merry!

Dustin keeps the mail moving through our systems to reach all of our traveling teacher group organizers. Now in his 6th year with passports, Dustin is currently in college, working on a degree in History, with the intention of becoming a History teacher in the future. In his spare time, he mentors a young student, plays softball, and is just an all-around great guy. Dustin recently accompanied his colleagues and over 100 group organizers on his first trip to Europe (passports International Teacher Convention in Dublin, Ireland) and extended on his own to Paris, France after the convention.
