Teacher Tuesday: D-Day Primary Sources

In honor of America’s Greatest Generation and the sacrifices they made to save the world from NAZI militarism and totalitarianism and in remembrance of the recent 70th anniversary of the D-Day Invasion, the Curriculum Department at passports would like to help teachers in preparing their lesson plans and classes for next school year.

On the websites listed below, teachers can find primary and secondary sources on D-Day and Operation Overlord (the overall invasion of France). We offer these sites as suggestions and welcome input from our teachers as to any others.

D-Day (website) – from the US Army

National D-Day Memorial (website)

American Experience: D-Day (primary and secondary sources) – from PBS

D-Day June 6, 1944 (primary and secondary sources) – from the National WWII Museum - this site was created to help educators in teaching about D-Day.

Experiencing War: Stories from the Veterans History Project (primary and secondary sources) – from the Library of Congress website

Any suggestions for the list? Let’s start a conversation.
